Speranza Scappucci Named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres

In a statement via social media Scapucci said, “It is with immense joy and deep honor that I announce today that the French Minister of Culture, Roselyne BACHELOT-NARQUIN, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart, has bestowed on me the honor of Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres! I am touched and grateful to France for this great honor. A heartfelt thanks also to the Ambassador of France to Italy Christian Masset. Very happy to announce that the French Minister of Culture has just awarded me the rank of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters!

Scapucci is the Music Director of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège and recently conducted a livestream of “La Traviata” with Patrizia Ciofi.
She is currently conducting a production of “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the New National Theatre of Tokyo.
