
Source/Filter Music Collective Announces Fall 2025 Programming
By Afton MarkayThe Source/Filter Music Collective, a women-led arts collective focused on reimagining opera and classical music in Los Angeles has announces upcoming events this fall.
First up is “Operatoberfest,” a one-night-only celebration of beer, bratwurst, and belting. Manfred Anaya, Matthew Ian Welch, Rachel Yo, Rae Shrum, and pianist Charlie Kim are among performers. Benny Boy Brewing hosts the event.

Later, Source/Filter will present two interactive opera-themed events,”Big Deaths” and “Alice Ryley.” The night opens with “Big Deaths,” a haunted house-style tour of operatic murder scenes. In small groups, attendees will wander through the museum’s Victorian homes, encountering iconic deaths scenes from “Carmen,” “Lucrezia Borgia,” “Rusalka,” “The Turn of the Screw,” and more. Afterwards, Michael Ching’s “Alice Ryley.” Performers include Alex Perkins, Alexei Helmbock, Amanda Mello, Chandler E. Cummings, Christine Li, Egan Carroll, Emily Gallagher, Kelvin Li, Kirk Garner, Manfred Anaya, Marissa Plati, Megan Shoaf, Melina Adragna, Rae Shrum, Savannah Greene, Grace Stewart, and Shannon Delijani. Alyssa French and Milena Gligić accompany on the piano under the baton of Caleb Yanez Glickman. Britta Sterling directs. Performances will take place at the The Church at Heritage Square Museum.

Since its start in 2022, Source/Filter has produced concerts featuring seldom-performed works by beloved composers, as well as new vocal works from Los Angeles-based composers.
