Soundstreams to Present ‘Letters to God’

By David Salazar

Soundstreams is set to present “Letters to God,” a concert that connects Canada and Japan’s spiritual and cultural realms.

The showcase, set for Oct. 24, 2024 at Trinity-St. Paul’s Center in Toronto, Ontario, will feature the Fujii Percussion Ensemble alongside the Canadian Children’s Opera Company, and Soundreams Choir 21.

The program includes Akira Miyoshi’s “Letters to God,” R. Murray Schafer’s “Seventeeth Haiku,” Toru Takemitsu’s “Seasons,” and “Songs for Ishikawa.”

The company will also feature a “Prelude” concert on Oct. 15 at Hugh’s Room featuring a commission by composer Chris Pruden. That event is presented as part of the TD Encounters series.

Soundstreams Choir 21 was founded in 2010 by Artistic Director Lawrence Cherney.
