Soundstreams Announces 2021-22 Season

Canadian-based Soundstreams has announced its 2021-22 season, entitled “Renewal and Rebirth.”

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on vocal performances.

First up is “Garden of Vanished Pleasures,” which stars Mireille Asselin, Lindsay McIntyre, Rebecca Cuddy, Daniel Cabena, and instrumentalists Brenna Hardy-Kavanagh and Amahl Arulandam. The video production features music by Cecilia Livingston and Donna Mckevitt and is drawn from the journal text of queer artist and activism Derek Jarman. Tim Albery directs.

Love Songs” will feature an ensemble of vocalists including Carla Huhtanen, Lindsay McIntyre, Vania Chan, Robin Dann, Bud Roach, Alex Samaras, and Keith Lam, under the musical direction of David Fallis. The showcase will be an homage to Claude Vivier.

“Electric Messiah” will be a reimagining Händel’s famed piece with new work by Lieke van der Voort.

Streaming Date: December 2021

There will also be a number of other performances featuring percussion ensembles, dancers, as well as Education workshops and a “Vivier Digital Residency.”
