Soprano Sydney Mancasola Returns Home for Mercy Medical Center’s 75th Anniversary Celebration

American soprano Sydney Mancasola, a Redding native who has been touring the globe from New Zealand to Chile, will be returning home to perform a special concert presented by Mercy Foundation North celebrating Mercy Medical Center’s 75th anniversary. The event will take place at the Cascade Theatre in Redding, California, on Jan. 9 at 7:30 PM.
Mancasola will be joined by Irish bass Barnaby Rea, tenor Dashiell Waterbury, and violinist Michael Eby. The quartett will be accompanied by the North State Symphony under the musical direction of Brian Stone.
Mancasola has recently performed the roles of Pamina in “Die Zauberflöte” both at the Komische Oper Berlin and Washington National Opera as well as the title role in Händel‘s Oratorio “Semele” at the Komische Oper Berlin. Other recent engagements include Frasquita in Bizet’s “Carmen” at the Metropolitan Opera House, Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro” and Gilda in “Rigoletto” at the Oper Frankfurt, as well as Manon in Massenet’s “Manon Lescaut” at the Oper Köln, among others.
Mancasola has also performed the role of Bess McNeill in the highly acclaimed Missy Mazzoli’s opera “Breaking the Waves,” both at the Scottish Opera and the Edinburgh International Festival.
