The Orquesta Filarmónica de Boca del Río Veracruz will open its second season with “Gala Lírica,” a benefit concert led by conductor Roberto Beltrán Zabala and featuring soprano Sofía Ramírez as guest artist.

The showcase, set for August 14, 2026 at Foro Boca, includes Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet” Overture Fantasy and José Pablo Moncayo’s “Huapango,” among additional works.

Ramírez, a lyric soprano originally from Mexico City, began her training in 2014 at the Taller Lírico Gabriel Mijares. She has since worked with conductor and pianist Kamal Khan, Linda M. Carroll and Ángel Rodríguez, among other professionals. Her performances include a 2019 tribute to Esperanza Iris at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris, the 2024 program “Heroínas de la Ópera” at the Museo de la Ciudad de México, and a tribute to women in opera that same year at the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the orchestra, which has contributed to the region’s cultural development for more than twelve years, per an official press release.
