Soprano Ashley Becker Joins Bellingham Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Women’s Voices’

By David Salazar

Soprano Ashley Becker will be joining the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra in performance on Nov. 8, 2020 as part of the “Women’s Voices” series.

The showcase will feature music by Frances Pollock, Willetta Parker, Florence Price, Undine Smith Moore, Gwenyth Walker, Alexandra Gardner, and Lori Laitman.

Becker, who has recently performed with such companies as Riverside Opera/Orchestra, Amore Opera, and Savannah Voice Festival, will be joined by Gardner and Pollock as well as pianist Keith Chambers.

“We are very pleased to expand this series, which focuses on the works of lesser-known voices and those who work to combat oppression,” Executive Director Gail Ridenour stated in a press release. “As we celebrate 100 years of women’s suffrage, it is important to note that not all women received the vote 100 years ago, and to continue to work towards equal representation for all.”
