Soprano Adrienne Danrich Headlines American Opera Project’s Valentine’s Day Edition of ‘Music as Message’

By Chris Ruel

The American Opera Project (AOP) will present the second installment of “Music as the Message: Sing Me to the End of Love” on February 14 at 4:00 p.m. EST.

The event is free with goodwill donations accepted and will stream on Zoom through AOPTV.

EMMY® Award-winning soprano and “Music as Message” (MaM) creator, Adrienne Danrich, will host a performance involving dance, poetry, and music that blends a wide variety of genres from Classical to EDM (Electronic Dance Music). The show will conclude with virtual mingling, a toast, and one last song sung by all.

MaM, created in association with Opera on Tap, harnesses the power of music to unite, heal, spread love, and foster community. In keeping with the series’ mission, AOP will give 50% of the donations to UnLocal, a non-profit that provides legal support and community education to New York’s immigrant communities.

The concert’s guest artist lineup features mezzo-soprano Alicia Hall Moran, dancer Dina Rose Rivera, and soprano Kamala Sankaram. The MaM Choir comprising soprano Chabrelle Williams; mezzo-soprano Hai-Ting Chinn; mezzo-soprano Patrice P. Eaton; tenor Brandon Snook; baritone Eric McKeever; and bass Scott Tomlinson will lend their talent along with percussionist Brian Adler; guitarist James Moore; violinist Kelly Hall-Thompson; and pianists Paul Greenwood and Dwight Howard.

Singer, writer, composer, and educator, Adrienne Danrich won an EMMY®  for on-camera talent as performer and narrator for her one-woman show, “This Little Light of Mine: The Stories of Marian Anderson and Leontyne Price.” She has performed, covered, and workshopped principal roles at many of the United States’ premiere houses, including The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, and Lyric Opera of Chicago, and appeared in the NBC broadcast of “The Sound of Music Live!”
