Sonya Yoncheva, Riccardo Massi, Jennifer France, Soraya Mafi Headline Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s 2023-24 Season

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, under Chief Conductor Domingo Hindoyan, has announced its 2023-24 season. Here is a breakdown of the vocal performances on offer.

There will be a performance of Beethoven’s “Mass in C” alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir. Jennifer France, Claire Barnett-Jones, Oliver Johnston, and Dominic Sedgwick will be the soloists. The performance will also feature music by Händel and Haydn.

Performance Date: Oct. 5, 2023

Domingo Hindoyan will conduct Brahms’ “Schicksalslied” alongside his “Nänie” and Mahler’s Fifth Symphony.

Performance Date: Oct. 28, 2023

 There will be a performance of Fauré’s “Requiem” alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir. Baritone Jacques Imbrailo will be the soloist. The program also features music by Bizet and Dukas. Ben Glassberg conducts.

Performance Date: Nov. 11, 2023 

Sonya Yoncheva will headline a program, performing Chausson’s “Poème de l’amour et de la mer.” The program also includes music by Dvorak and Wagner.

Performance Date: Nov. 30, 2023

The Liverpool Philharmonic Children’s Choirs will also perform in a children’s concert entitled “Santa and The Snowman.”

Performance Date: Dec. 16 & 17, 2023

Ian Tracey conducts “Spirit of Christmas” which will feature mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir.

Performance Date: Dec. 16 – 22, 2023

Soraya Mafi, Hugh Cutting, Stuart Jacks, and Ashley Riches will headline Händel’s “Messiah.” Bernard Labadie conducts.

Performance Date: Jan. 6, 2024

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir will be featured in a concert showcasing works by Händel and Vaughan Williams.

Performance Date: March 16, 2024

The Liverpool Philharmonic Youth and Children’s Choirs will showcase the world premiere of Joanna Marsh’s “Plastic Theater,” conducted by Ellie Slorach. The program also features music by Vaughan Williams.

Performance Date: March 24, 2024

There will be a performance of Poulenc’s “Gloria” alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir. Ariane Matiakh conducts the showcase, which features soprano Daniella Sicari. The program also includes music by Berlioz and Charles Koechlin.

Performance Date: April 20, 2024

There will be a celebration of Puccini starring soprano Sonya Yoncheva and tenor Riccardo Massi. Domingo Hindoyan conducts.

Performance Date: May 25, 2024

Chamber Music

Tenor Henry Strutt will appear in “Songs of Love and Loss,” one of the numerous lunchtime concerts. The program includes music by Schubert and Britten.

Performance Date: Oct. 30, 2023

Soprano Ilona Dominich will perform in “Klezmer-ish Stumbling Stones Project.

Performance Date: Jan. 28 & 29, 2024

Soprano Anna Crookes will appear in a program featuring works by Silvestrov and Shostakovich.

Performance Date: April 22, 2024
