Sonya Yoncheva Cancels Liverpool Philharmonic Concert

By Francisco Salazar

Sonya Yoncheva has canceled her Liverpool concert due to illness.

The soprano took to social media and said, “Hello from rainy Liverpool! Unfortunately, I must cancel my concert tomorrow with Liverpool philharmonic and Domingo Hindoyan due to a very bad flu! I was looking forward to singing these melodies by Martucci with my man! Fingers crossed to be better for our 2nd concert. Stay healthy!”

The program, which was to be performed on May 12, was set to include Verdi’s Overture to Luisa Miller, Martucci’s La Canzone dei Ricordi, and Schumann’s Symphony No.2. Jennifer Johnston has replaced Yoncheva and the program’s first half will feature music by Wagner. The Schumann will still be performed.

Yoncheva is still set to perform on May 15.
