Puccini’s masterpiece “Tosca” returns to the Metropolitan Opera for 15 performances.

The opera, which is set to open on Dec. 2, 2021, will first star Sondra Radvanovsky reprising her acclaimed turn which OperaWire said put her on, “a different level as Puccini’s Tragic Heroine.” She will be joined by Brian Jagde and George Gagnidze.

Then in January, Elena Stikhina will sing the title role with Joseph Calleja, who also returns to the role he first performed at the Met in 2018 alongside Gagnidze. Finally, in March, Aleksandra Kurzak will make her role debut as the eponymous diva alongside Roberto Alagna and Zeljko Lučić, who premiered David McVicar’s production during the 2017-18 season.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Carlo Rizzi share the podium, leading the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

“Tosca” runs through March 12, 2022 with numerous performances (Dec. 2 and 11, 2021, January 14, 26, and March 9, 2022) broadcast live on Met Opera Radio on SiriusXM Channel 355. The Dec. 11, 2021 performance will also be broadcast over the Toll Brothers–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
