Saturday Night Live (SNL) has shaded Timothée Chalamet after he said “No One Cares” about opera and ballet in a town hall for Variety and CNN.

During the “Weekend Update” segment anchor Colin Jost said, “Timothée Chalamet is being criticized by major opera and ballet organizations after he said that no one cares about those art forms. Chalamet made the comment on a press tour for his movie about ping-pong.”

It’s the latest jab at the actor after major opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala and Royal Opera & Ballet criticized him for his comments and even invited him to see a performance. It also comes after Oscar nominee Diane Warren took to X to shade him and said, “So is the Timothee Chalamet ballet movie not happening now?” The National Board of Review also posted a montage of various films that used opera and ballet and said it is proud to “celebrate cinema and all other art forms.”

Ever since Chalamet’s comments garnered strong reaction, several interviews have resurfaced that have seen the actor criticize opera on multiple occasions calling it “outdated” and a “dying artform.”

The comments that put Chalamet in hot water were, “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.’” He then added, “all respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership.”
