Sir Bryn Terfel & Lorenzo Viotti to Headline ‘Great Performances: Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert 2026’

“Great Performances: Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert 2026″ is set to premiere on Friday, August 28 on PBS.
The showcase features Swiss conductor Lorenzo Viotti leading the orchestra for the first time in a performance recorded on June 19 in Schönbrunn Palace Park. Headlining the concert was bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel who performed arias from Verdi’s “Falstaff,” Boito’s “Mefistofele,” and the finale from Wagner’s “Das Rheingold.” Terfel also performs Tevye’s song “If I Were a Rich Man” from “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Soloists of the Vienna State Ballet also feature the program, dancing to Ravel with choreography by Eno Peçi.
The concert, which commences at 9 p.m. ET, is directed by Henning Kasten and produced by Edith Hisch, a production of the Wiener Philharmoniker and ORF in association with The WNET Group. John Walker is writer, Bill Kabel is producer, Bill O’Donnell is series producer, and David Horn is executive producer for “Great Performances.”
