
PBS Announces ‘Great Performances at the Met’ Schedule for 2026

The broadcasting season opened with Puccini’s “La Bohème” starring soprano Juliana Grigoryan as Mimì and tenor Freddie De Tommaso as Rodolfo in Franco Zeffirelli’s production. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts.

Mason Bates’ “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay”, based on Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, features baritone Andrzej Filończyk in his Met debut as Joe Kavalier alongside tenor Miles Mykkanen as Sam Clay. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Bartlett Sher’s production, with a libretto by Gene Scheer.

Bellini’s “La Sonnambula” stars Nadine Sierra as Amina alongside tenor Xabier Anduaga as Elvino, soprano Sydney Mancasola as Lisa, and bass Alexander Vinogradov as Count Rodolfo. Riccardo Frizza conducts the new production by Rolando Villazón.

Strauss’ “Arabella” features soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen in her role debut in the title role, soprano Louise Alder in her Met debut as Zdenka, and bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny.

Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier” stars tenor Piotr Beczała in the title role, soprano Sonya Yoncheva as Maddalena di Coigny, and baritone Igor Golovatenko as Carlo Gérard. Daniele Rustioni conducts Nicolas Joël’s production.

Bellini’s “I Puritani” stars soprano Lisette Oropesa as Elvira and tenor Lawrence Brownlee as Arturo, Ricardo José Rivera as Riccardo with Christian Van Horn as Giorgio. Marco Armiliato conducts the production directed by Charles Edwards, making his company directorial debut.

Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” stars soprano Asmik Grigorian as Tatiana and Iurii Samoilov as Eugene Onegin in a production directed by Tony Award winner Deborah Warner.

Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” stars soprano Lise Davidsen as Isolde and tenor Michael Spyres as Tristan, with mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova as Brangäne, bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny as Kurwenal, and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as King Marke. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads a new production by Yuval Sharon.

Composer Gabriela Lena Frank makes her Met debut with “El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego”, with a libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz. Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard stars as Frida Kahlo and baritone Carlos Álvarez as Diego Rivera. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the new production directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker.
