Siobhan Stagg, Michael Spyres & Julie Fuchs Lead Opéra Comique 2021 Season

L’Opéra Comique in Paris has announced its 2021 season. Here is the full slate.

Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville’s “Titon et l’Aurore” will feature Reinoud Van Mechelen, Gwendoline Blondeel, Julie Roset, Emmanuelle de Negri, Marc Mauillon, and Renato Dolcini. William Christie will conduct the production by Basil Twist. The performances will feature the Chœur et Orchestre Les Arts Florissants.

Performance dates: Jan. 18 – Jan. 27, 2021

Jacques Offenbach’s “La Belle Hélène” will spotlight Marie–Nicole Lemieux, Philippe Talbot, Kangmin Justin Kim, Michel Fau, Franck Leguérinel, Jean-Claude Saragosse, Pierre-Emmanuel Roubet, Thomas Morris, Yoann Dubruque, Sarah Jouffroy, and Didier Deconinck. Pierre Dumoussaud conducts the production by Michel Fau. The presentations will feature the Chœur Les éléments.

Performance dates: March 1 – March 11, 2021

Jacques Offenbach’s “Le voyage dans la lune” will showcase Franck Leguérinel, Ludmilla Bouakkaz, and Arthur Roussel. Alexandra Cravero conducts the production by Laurent Pelly. The presentations will spotlight the Chœur Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra Comique.

Performance dates: April 18 – April 24, 2021

Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” will feature Luciana Mancini, Marc Mauillon, Sara Mingardo, Marianne Beate Kielland, Furio Zanasi, and Salvo Vitale. Jordi Savall conducts the production by Pauline Bayle. The performances will feature the Chœur et Orchestre Le Concert des Nations.

Performance dates: June 4 – June 10, 2021

Beethoven’s “Fidelio” will showcase Siobhan Stagg, Michael Spyres, Mari Eriksmoen, Albert Dohmen, Gabor Bretz, Christian Immler, and Eric Ferring. Raphaël Pichon will conduct the production by Cyril Teste. The performances will spotlight the Chœur et Orchestre Pygmalion.

Performance dates: Sep. 25 – Oct. 3, 2021

Philippe Hersant and Jean Echenoz’s “Les Éclairs” will feature Jean-Christophe Lanièce, André Heyboer, Elsa Benoit, Marie-Andrée BouchardLesieur, Jérôme Boutillier, and François Rougier. Ariane Matiakh conducts the production by Clément Hervieu-Léger. The opera will spotlight the Chœur Aedès.

Performance dates: Nov. 2 – Nov. 8, 2021

Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette” will star Jean-François Borras, Julie Fuchs, Patrick Bolleire, Adèle Charvet, Philippe-Nicolas Martin, Jérôme Boutillier, Marie Lenormand, Yu Shao, Yoann Dubruque, and Geoffroy Buffière. Laurent Campellone conducts the production by Éric Ruf. The work is presented in a Co-production with the Washington National Opera, Opéra de Rouen Normandie, Théâtre de la Ville de Berne, and Opéra de Toulon Provence Méditerranée.

Performance dates: Dec. 13 – Dec. 21, 2021
