Sinfonia Leipzig to Present ‘Rusalka’

Sinfonia Leipzig is set to present Dvořák’s opera “Rusalka.”

The work will be presented on August 30 as a mini-opera conducted by Tsai-Ju Lee in the Arena at the Panometer.

The mini-opera will offer a modern and intimate approach to Dvořák’s masterpiece both visually and acoustically. It will include 12 musicians and four vocal soloists and will offer discussions and drinks before, during, and after the performance.

The concert will include Julie Wyma as Rusalka, Nicole Piccolomini as Jezibaba, Vernon Kirk as The Prince, and Ralf Lukas as Vodnik.

“Rusalka” is Dvořák’s ninth opera and became his most successful, frequenting the standard repertoire worldwide. The work is best known for the soprano aria, the “Song to the Moon.”
