
Simon O’Neill Joins Askonas Holt for Management
By Francisco SalazarSimon O’Neill has joined the roster of Askonas Holt for worldwide general management excluding Australia and New Zealand.
The tenor will be managed by Joel Thomas and Paul Meyer zu Schwabedissen.
O’Neill is a well-known Heldentenor who has performed at the Royal Opera, Berliner Staatsoper, Metropolitan Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg and the Bayerisches Staatsoper, as well as the BBC Proms and the Bayreuth Festival. He is best known for his roles as Lohengrin and Parsifal.
This season he makes his debut at the Teatro Municipal de Sao Paolo as Tristan and will sing Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde” with the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Sydney Symphony, among others.
O’Neill is an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, is an alumnus and Doctor of Music (Honoris Causa) from Victoria University of Wellington, an alumnus of both the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard Opera Center, and a Fulbright Scholar. He also appears on a one-dollar New Zealand postage stamp.
