Semperoper Dresden Cancels All Performances until Dec. 28

By Francisco Salazar

The Semperoper Dresden has canceled all of its revised programmings until Dec. 28.

The company said that due to the decree of the Saxon state government to help contain the Corona pandemic in Saxony, the company would not open and that the scheduled performances in Semper Zwei, as well as events at other venues, are also canceled.

The company also announced that tickets already purchased for the canceled performances will be refunded.

The news comes days after the German extended its lockdown until Dec. 20 due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. German opera houses have been closed since the beginning of November. However, rehearsals have been allowed to continue and some companies are currently performing for a virtual audience.
