The Semperoper Dresden has announced that Sächsischen Staatstheater will organize a vaccination against COVID-19 as a part of “Vaccination also protects culture!” campaign.

The vaccination event will take place on Dec. 10, 2021 between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. CET. Dr. Woong Rohrer-Park and his team will provide first doses, second doses, and also booster shots using the MRNA-1273 Spikevax vaccine by the American manufacturer Moderna.

“With this campaign, the Sächsischen Staatstheater are helping to send a clear signal for the corona vaccination,” said the Intendant of the Semperoper Peter Theiler. “Only when as many people as possible show solidarity and have been vaccinated we will be able to return to regular performances,” added Theiler.

“We hope that both the Semperoper and the Staatsschauspiel, due to their central location, will attract many people to take advantage of our vaccination offer during the coming weekend,” added the Intendant of the Staatsschauspiels Dresden Joachim Klement.

The Semperoper Dresden is currently closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic wave in Germany. The opera house will remain closed until at least Jan. 9, 2022.
