Semperoper Dresden Announces Cast Change For “Die Zauberflöte”

The Sempoper Dresden has announced a cast change for its upcoming performances of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte”

The company announced that conductor Moritz Gnann will take over the musical direction on Jan. 24 & 29 replacing conductor Patrick Lange.

Gnann recently conducted Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel” and Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” at the Semperoper Dresden, Britten’s “Billy Budd,” Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” and Janáček’s “The Cunning Little Vixen” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, among others.

Gnann will lead a cast that includes Tilmann Rönnebeck in the role of Sarastro, Rocío Pérez as the Königin der Nacht, Evelin Novak in the role of Pamina, and Tomislav Mužek as Tamino. Bernhard Hansky and Sebastian Wartig will alternate as Papageno while Jeannette Oswald and Christiane Hossfeld will share the role of Papagena.

Patrick Lange is set to be back in the pit for performances of Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden on Feb. 6, 2020.
