The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for the Jan. 3, 2020 performance of Weber’s “Der Freischütz.”

The company announced that Carolina Ullrich will sing Ännchen in the performance, replacing Katerina von Bennigsen.

Ullrich has been a soloist at the Semperoper since 2010 and has performed such roles as Pamina in “The Magic Flute,” Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Gretel in “Hansel and Gretel,” Oscar in “Un Ballo in Maschera,” Zerlina in “Don Giovanni,” and Adina in “L’Elisir d’Amore.”

The Chilean soprano is set to join a cast that includes Sebastian Wartig, Hagen Erkrath, Dorothea Herbert, Matthias Henneberg, and Tomislav Mužek. Christoph Gedschold conducts Axel Köhler’s production.

Katerina von Bennigsen returns to the production on Jan. 5 for the final performance of the run.
