Seattle Opera Announces Upcoming Family-Friendly Events

By Afton Wooten

Seattle Opera will be presenting three family-focused events as part of its 2021/22 season.

First up in the family-friendly programming is a performance of the children’s opera, “The Very Last Green Thing”  performed by the 2022 Youth Opera cast, taking place April 1-3 at the Tagney Jones Hall.

During the main stage run of “The Marriage of Figaro,” SO will put on a special production titled “The Marriage of Figaro Family Day” on May 15 on the McCaw Hall stage. The Family Day includes an adapted performance of Mozart’s opera as well as student-oriented activities during intermission. This performance will have special pricing for those under 18.

The final youth-focused event is the one-act opera “Earth to Kinsey,” which discusses themes of homelessness, empathy, and strength through adversity. This event will take place on June 4 and with a sensory-friendly performance on June 5 at the Tagney Jones Hall.
