
Schmidt Vocal Arts Announces Winners of 2025–26 Tennessee Regional Competition
By David SalazarSchmidt Vocal Arts announced the winners of its 2025–26 Tennessee Regional Competition, held on Nov. 15 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
First Prize was awarded to Abigail Scheer of Paducah, Kentucky, while Second Prize went to Madeline Hansen of Suwanee, Georgia. Finally, Third Prize was given to William Norton of Houston, Texas. All three top prizewinners advance to the National Competition and received awards of $2,500, $2,000, and $1,500.
Nineteen high school singers from eight states competed for prizes and advancement to the National Competition in May 2026.
Each finalist received a $250 award for advancing. Other finalists included William Buettin, Elsa Cayce, and Sarah Vanlandingham.
Encouragement Awards were presented to Janeway Howard, Lily Perry, and Camilla Zayas-Cruz. The Most Promising Sophomore Award was given to Isabella Richter.
The jury was composed of Dr. Sonya Baker, Hailey Clark, and Mary Stucky.
