The Savonlinna Opera Festival has announced program changes to its 2025 season.

The company said that due to production-related reasons, the Olavinlinna 550th Anniversary Concert on July 3, 2025 and “Il Diluvio Universale” on August 1st, 2025 will be removed from the Savonlinna Opera Festival program.

The festival added, “This difficult decision was influenced not only by logistical challenges but also by significant cuts to cultural funding, affecting both national and local financial support.”

In a statement, Head of Sales Juha Pekka Voutilainen said, “We understand that these program changes may cause disappointment, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. However, we encourage all opera lovers to explore the rest of the festival’s program, which features top-tier productions and the unique surroundings of the castle Olavinlinna.”

The 2025 Savonlinna Opera Festival is set to present productions of “Macbeth,” “Turandot,” “Boris Godunov,” and “The Fairy Queen.”
