The Finnish festival will kick off on July 2 and run through July 31, 2021 with all ticket reservations from this summer set to be moved to next summer. Per a press release, the program will be nearly identical to this season’s originally planned schedule, with some nuances.

Among the major pieces being showcased as “King Roger,” in its Finnish premiere. Additionally, audiences will be presented with “Carmen,” “La Traviata,” “The Barber of Seville,” and “Guilio Cesare.”

Karita Mattila is also scheduled to perform in the 2021 edition.

“We’ve been delighted by how many singer” booked for this summer wanted to arrange their schedules around next year’s festival,” stated Artistic Director Ville Matvejeff in a press release. “This makes me particularly happy, as I can fulfill my aim of bringing international rising stars of the new generation to Olavinlinna, who are at an interesting stage in their career.”
