Sasha Cooke to Headline Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s Weekend Concert Series

Sasha Cooke will headline Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s Weekend Concert Series on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.

“Of Thee I Sing, a recital of American song, will feature the famed mezzo-soprano alongside pianist Myra Huang. The program features the Boston premiere of Jasmine Barnes’s new song cycle “American Lament,” co-commissioned by the museum, which sets Langston Hughes’s poem “Let America Be America Again.”

Also on the program are works by William Bolcom, George Gershwin, Samuel Barber, Jennifer Higdon, Aaron Copland, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Stephen Sondheim, alongside émigré composers Alma Mahler and Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

Cooke has performed all around the world at such companies as The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Royal Opera House in London, Dutch National Opera, Theater an der Wien, and Frankfurt Opera, among others.
