SAS Performing Arts Company and Studios, Inc. is now taking applications for its 2023 Vocal Competition.

For the last three years, SAS has awarded nearly $25,000 in grants to promising artists for career development. First prize this year is $3,500, with second and third at $1,500 and $1,000, respectively. There will also be a Classical Cross Over Award valued at $500, as well as Incentive Grants for $100.

The panel this year will be comprised of opera singers Tichina Vaughn, Luana DeVol, Vernon Hartman, Isola Jones, Amy Johnson, and Christine Moore Vassallo.

The semi-finals will be held on September 16 and 17, 2023, with the finals held on November 4. Previous winners have gone on to perform with companies such as The Metropolitan Opera, Tulsa Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, San Francisco Opera, Paris Opera, and more.
