Sarasota Youth Opera has opened enrollment for their annual Summer Camp, with plans for a variety of live, interactive Zoom lessons.

Sessions will take place from June 21 – July 2, 2021, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The two-week program has a tuition of $150, with tuition assistance available, as well as a reduced price for siblings in the same household. Participants will be shipped music and materials needed for projects. Subjects include Chorus, Acting, Opera 101 (Opera History), Props & Sets, Wigs & Makeup, Costumes, Stage Management, and “Write Your Own Opera.” The classes will be led by professional singers, artists, directors, and technicians.

The enrollment deadline is June 1, 2021, with the program open to children aged 8-18. Students will be required to have a free Zoom account, and either a cell phone, computer, laptop, or tablet with a working internet connection.

Since 1984, Sarasota Youth Opera has brought opera to young audiences through education and performance opportunities in after-school choruses, mainstage productions, summer workshops, and fully staged Youth Opera productions.
