
Santa Fe Opera Announces Series of Community Events This Summer
By David SalazarThe Santa Fe Opera will offer three free community events to complement its 2026 Festival Season, per an official press release.
In partnership with 95.5 KHFM Classical Public Radio, the company will air live-recorded radio broadcasts of each opening night performance on Mondays throughout August. The broadcasts are scheduled for August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 6 p.m. local time, featuring opening night recordings of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin,” Handel’s “Rodelinda,” and Tobias Picker’s “Lili Elbe,” respectively.
Soprano and KHFM host Kathlene Ritch will serve as host for each broadcast. Following each air date, all five broadcasts will be available for free on-demand streaming at the company and radio station’s official websites.
Then, on July 23 at 7 p.m., members of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program for Singers will perform arias and scenes from popular operas in a free outdoor concert at the Santa Fe Railyard.
The company will also present “Opera in the Park” on September 19 at 6 p.m., with a free outdoor screening of “The Magic Flute” at Railyard Park in Santa Fe.
