The San Francisco Symphony has announced that Chorus Director Jenny Wong will continue her leadership of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus through the 2028–29 season.

Wong joined the Symphony at the start of the 2023–24 season, becoming only the fourth Chorus Director in the ensemble’s 52-year history. In her role, she leads the annual Chorus Concert, prepares the 160-member ensemble for orchestral and guest conductor collaborations, and oversees auditions and recruitment.

“I am thrilled to be continuing my relationship with the SF Symphony Chorus,” said Wong per an official press release issued by the company. “In our short time together, we have shared many meaningful experiences. I look forward to building on what we have accomplished with this immensely gifted and dedicated group of artists.”

Wong led the Chorus in its 2024 annual concert and notably prepared the ensemble for Salonen’s performances of Kaija Saariaho’s “Adriana Mater,” which was later released on Deutsche Grammophon and earned the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording.

Upcoming highlights of the 2025–26 season include Wong conducting the Chorus in Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux aeterna” and preparing the ensemble for performances of Händel’s “Messiah,” Mozart’s “Requiem,” Bach’s “Easter Oratorio,” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, among others.
