San Francisco Opera Signs Two-Year Agreement with AGMA

By David Salazar

San Francisco Opera and the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) have announced a two-year agreement.

The new agreement was ratified on August 25, 2025 and is retroactively effective from March 1, 2025 and runs through Feb. 28, 2027. It includes pay increases, equitable pay adjustments, enhanced work-life protections, new benefits, and improvements to scheduling and the audition process.

“This agreement reflects the dedication of every AGMA member at San Francisco Opera; we really came together. Solidarity works,” said Sally Mouzon, AGMA’s Western Region Vice President, SFO Chorister, and member of the Negotiating Committee, per an official press release. “It’s about respect for the job we do, a healthy balance between life and work, and ensuring that artists have a real seat at the table as our beloved San Francisco Opera plans for the future.”

The San Francisco Opera season opened with a production of “Rigoletto” and is set to revive “Dead Man Walking.”
