San Francisco Opera Announces Emerging Stars Competition Nominees

The San Francisco Opera has announced the 2023-24 Emerging Stars Competition.

The Emerging Stars Competition, made possible by Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem, is a fund for opera singers who have made their mark on the grand stage.

The company added, that through the Emerging Stars Fund, Jan and Maria help bring some of opera’s most exciting rising talents to the stage.

Past recipients of the award include soprano Yaritza Véliz, soprano Andriana Chuchman, baritone Lucas Meachem, and tenors Arturo Chacón-Cruz and Atalla Ayan.

This year the nominees are:

– Julie Adams for her role as Elsa in “Lohengrin”
– Judit Kutasi for her role as Ortud in “Lohengrin”
– Thomas Lehman for his role as The King’s Herald in “Lohengrin”
– Jamez McCorkle for his role as Omar in “Omar”
– Taylor Raven for her role as Fatima in “Omar”
– Brittany Renee for her role as Julie in “Omar”
– Pene Pati for his role as Nemorino in “The Elixir of Love”
– Slávka Zámečníková for her role as Adina in “The Elixir of Love”
– Christina Gansch for her role as Pamina in “The Magic Flute”
– Amitai Pati for his role as Tamino in “The Magic Flute”
– Carlo Vistoli for his role as Arsace in “Partenope”
– Julie Fuchs for her role as Partenope in “Partenope”

The winner will be chosen by the audience and voting will end on August 2, 2024.
