The San Diego Opera has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Roméo et Juliette.”

The company noted that the role of Juliette will be sung by Nicole Cabell, replacing Kristina Mkhitaryan who withdrew from four of her upcoming engagements due to family reasons.

Cabell is a winner of the Cardiff Singer of the World who has performed at the Pittsburgh Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, and English National Opera.

Cabel will join a cast that will include Pene Pati, Sarah Coit, Adrian Kramer, Colin Ramsey, Hadleigh Adams, and Simon Lim. Matthew Ozawa directs production and Yves Abel conducts.

“Roméo et Juliette” is set to open on March 26 and will run through April 3, 2022.
