Salzburg Festival to Celebrate Plácido Domingo’s 50th Anniversary

The Salzburg Festival is set to celebrate Plácido Domingo’s 50th anniversary with the festival.

In a statement, the company said, “Plácido Domingo first appeared at the Salzburg Festival in 1975 and today we are celebrating half a century together. He has accompanied us in an incredible 17 opera productions and ten concert evenings. That’s why we can hardly wait for this wonderful evening today! We wish the entire cast TOI TOI TOI and everyone who joins us a magical evening.”

The concert, which will be held on May 20, will showcase the Domingo alongside Operalia winners Aida Garifullina, Elena Stikhina, Sonya Yoncheva, René Barbera, Bekhzod Davronov, Dmitry Korchak, Rolando Villazón, and Erwin Schrott. The Münchner Rundfunkorchester will be conducted by Marco Armiliato.

The program will feature music by Verdi, Donizetti, Dvorak, Rossini, Massenet, Bellini, Bizet, Moreno Torroba, Cilea, Tchaikovsky, and Penella.
