The Teatro de la Zarzuela has announced its 2023-24 season featuring zarzuela productions, concerts, and recitals.

Zarzuela

The season opens with “El Caballero del Olmedo” starring Joel Prieto, Cesar Arrieta, Rocio Perez, Alba Chantar, German Olvera, Ramiro Maturana, Nicola Beller Carbone, Berna Perles, Gerado Bullon, and Ruben Amoretti. Guillermo Garcia Calvo conducts the production by Lluis Pasqual’s production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 6-15, 2023

Carlos Alvarez, Gerardo Bullon, Raquel Lojendio, Sofia Esparza, Ketevan Kemoklidze, Maria Antunez, Jorge Rodriguez-Norton, and Javier Castaneda star in “Las Golondrinas.” Juanjo Mena conducts the opera in a production by Giancarlo del Monaco.

Performance Dates: Nov. 9-19, 2023

Yolanda Auyanet and Carmen Romeu lead “La Rosa del Azafran” alongside Juan Jesus Rodriguez, Gurutze Beitia, Rodrigo Esteves, Angel Ruiz, Vicky Pena, Jorge Merino, Mario Gas, Pep Molina, and Emilio Gavir. Jose Maria Moreno conducts the production by Ignacio Garcia.

“Gal La Placida” will star Maribel Ortega, Antoni Lliteres, Simon Orfila, Carol Garcia, Carlos Daza, and Marc Sala with Christoph Konig conducting.

“La Verbena de la Paloma” will be conducted by Jose Miguel Perez-Sierra and will star Jesus Catejon, Borja Quiza, Milagros Martin, Carmen Romeu, Ana Sanmartin, Gurutze Beitia, Gerardo Lopez, Rafael Casetjon, Alberto Frias, Nuria Perez, RaffaelaChacon, and AnaGoya.
