Ainhoa Arteta, Ramon Vargas, Ismael Jordi & Saioa Hernández Lead Teatro de la Zarzuela’s 2022-23 Season

The Teatro de la Zarzuela has announced its 2022-23 season.

Zarzuela 

The season opens with “La Celestina” by Felip Pedrell. The concert version will star Ketevan Kemoklidze, Miren Urbieta Vega, Andeka Gorrotxategi, Juan Jesus Rodriguez, Simon Orfila, and Sofia Esparza. Guillermo García Calvo conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 9 & 11, 2022

Barbieri’s “Pan y toros” will be conducted by Guillermo García Calvo. Juan Echanove directs the production with a cast that includes Yolanda Auyanet, Raquel Lojendio, Carol Garcia, Cristina Fuas, Borja Quiza, Cesar San Martin, Milagros Martin, Gerardo Bullon, Maria Rodriguez, Enrique Viana, Pedro Mari Sanchez, Carlos Daza, Pablo Galvez, Jose Manuel Lopez, Lara Chaves, Sandro Cordero, Alberto Frias, Cesar Sanchez, and Julen Alba.

Performance Dates: Oct. 6-23, 2022

“Policías y ladrones” by Tomás Marco will be performed by Manuel Lanza, Alba Chantar, Cesar Arrieta, Maria Hinojosa, and Miguel Angel Arias. Jose Ramon Encinar conducts the production by Carme Portaceli.

Performance Dates: Nov. 18-27, 2022

Breton’s “La Dolores” will see Saioa Hernández and Carmen Solís share the title role alongside Jorge de León and Andeka Gorrotxategui. Guillermo García Calvo conducts the production by Amelia Ochandiano. The cast also includes Jose Antonio Lopez, Angel Odena, Maria Luisa Corbacho, Marina Pinchuk, Ruben Amoretti, Ihor Voievodin, Javier Tome, and Santiago Vidal.

Performance Dates: Jan. 27-Feb. 12 2023

Rafael Villalobos will direct “La violación de Lucrecia” by José de Nebra. Alberto Miguelez Rouco conducts a cast that is led by María Hinojosa, Carol García, and Marina Monzó.

Performance Dates: March 25-April 1, 2023

The company will present the world premiere of “Trato de favor” by Lucas Vidal. Andrés Salado will conduct the production by Emilio Sagi. Ainhoa Arteta, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Enrique Ferrer, Amparro Navarro, Amelia Font, Maria Jose Suarez, and Boris Izaguirre.

Performance Dates: April 29-May 21, 2023

The final zarzuela of the season will be “Luisa Fernanda” in a production by Davide Livermore. Gómez Martínez conducts a cast led by Sabina Puértolas, Ismael Jordi, Juan Jesús Rodríguez, and María José Montiel. There will be a second cast starring Carmen Artaza, Ruben Amoretti, Rocio Ignacio, and Alejandro del Cerro.

Enrique Viana and Ramon Grau perform songs by Guridi, Moreno Torroba, Lleó, Serrano, Sorozábal, and Bretón.

Carlos Álvarez and Rocio Ignacio lead the Christmas Concert under the direction of Guillermo Garcia Calvo.

Ángel Ruiz and Cesar Belda will give a concert.

El ‘Proyecto Zarza’, bajo el título de Yo te querré, contará con música de Alonso, bajo la batuta de Lucia Marin y con dirección de escena de José Luis Arellano.

Marianne Crebassa and Anneleen Lenaerts take on the music of  Maurice Ravel, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Federico Mompou, Jesús Guridi, and Claude Debussy.

Andre Schuen and Daniel Heide perform the music by Brahms.

Manuel Walser and Alexander Fleischer lead a concert with music Johannes Brahms, Serguéi Rajmáninov, and Richard Strauss.

Ian Bostridge and Julius Drake perform the music of Gustav Mahler, Franz Schubert, Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, and y Hans Werner Henze.
