Saioa Hernández, Ainhoa Arteta, Carlos Álvarez & Lisette Oropesa Lead Teatro de la Zarzuela’s 2021-22 Season

The Teatro de la Zarzuela has announced its 2021-22 season featuring an array of Zarzuela, recitals, and concerts. Here is a look at the vocal performances and zarzuela performances.

Zarzuela 

The season will open with Ruperto Chapí’s “Circe” starring Saioa Hernández, Alejandro Roy, and Rubén Amoretti. Guillermo García Calvo conducts.

Juan Jesús Rodríguez and Javier Franco lead Guerrero’s “Los Gavilanes” with María José Montiel, Sandra Ferrández, Marina Monzó, Loenor Bonilla, Ismael Jordi and Alejandro del Cerro. Jordi Bernàcer conducts Mario Gas’ production,

Performance Dates: Oct. 8-24, 2021

Sorozábal’s ever popular “La Tabernera del Puerto” will star María José Moreno, Sofía Esparza, Damián del Castillo,  Rodrigo Esteves, Antonio Gandía, Antoni Lliteres, Rubén Amoretti, and Ruth González.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19-28, 2021

Guillermo García Calvo conducts Sorozábal’s “Entre Sevilla y Triana” with Carlos Álvarez, Javier Franco, Ainhoa Arteta, Carmen Solís, Andeka Gorrotxategi, and Alejandro del Cerro.

Performance Dates: Jan. 26-Feb. 6, 2022

Andeka Gorrotxategi, Maribel Ortega, and Juan Jesús Rodríguez star in Bretón’s “Tabaré.” Ramón Tebar conducts.

Performance Dates: March 4 & 6, 2022

Albéniz’s “The Magical Opal” will star Ruth Iniesta, Carmen Romeu, Santiago Ballerini, Leonardo Sánchez, Luis Cansino, Rodrigo Esteves, Damián del Castillo, César San Martín, Carmen Artaza, and Mar Campo. Guillermo García Calvo conducts the production by Paco Azorín.

Celso Albelo and José Luis Sola lead Penella’s “Don Gil de Alcalá” with Sabina Puértolas, Irene Palazón, Carlos Cosías, Facundo Muñoz, Carol García, Lidia Vinyes-Curtis, Manel Esteve, Eleomar Cuello, Stefano Palatchi, and Simón Orfila. Lucas Macías conducts Emilio Sagi’s production.

Performance Dates: May 5-22, 2022

Borja Quiza, David Oller, Cristina Faus, Carol García, Maria Miró Cristina Toledo, Javier Tomé, and Francisco Corujo star in Barbieri’s “El Barbarillo de Lavapiés.” José Miguel Pérez-Sierra stars.
