Ryan Speedo Green to Star in Metropolitan Opera’s New Ring Cycle

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has found its next Wotan in the Ring Cycle.

The Associated Press is reporting that Met General Manager Peter Gelb said that Ryan Speedo Green will sing the role when the Met launches its new Ring Cycle in the 2027-28 season.

The news comes as Green is singing the role of Wotan at the Santa Fe Opera in “Die Walküre” for the first time. He will sing the role again with Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic next spring.

When the Met launches the new ring, Yuval Sharon will direct the tetralogy with Lise Davidsen singing her first Brünnhilde. Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct the production, which will have its first full cycle in 2030.

Green made his debut in 2012 and has performed over 150 times with the company.
