Ruggero Raimondi, Susan Bullock, Mark Delavan Among Stars of Maryland Lyric Opera’s 2019-20 Season

The Maryland Lyric Opera has unveiled its 2019-20 season which currently features three productions.

The company will kick things off with the season with a concert performance of “Il Tabarro” and “Cavalleria Rusticana.”

The double bill will feature Mark Delavan, Jill Gardner, Susan Bullock, and Jonathan Burton will headlining in both works. Louis Salemno conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 14, 15, 2019 

The season continues with the MDLO Young Artist Institute Fall Gala, featuring Alexandra Razskazoff, Sarah Joyce Cooper, Olga Syniakova, Yi Li, Christian Bowers, and Michael Pitocchi. The concert will include music from “Fidelio,” “Faust,” “Falstaff,” Don Pasquale,” “Carmen,” and “Der Rosenkavalier.”

Performance Date: Nov. 1, 2019 

Claudia Zahn will direct a new production of “Thaïs” with Sarah Joy Miller in the title role and Louis Otey as Athanaël. Louis Salemno conducts. Other performers include Joseph Michael Brent, Hunter Enoch, Caroline Hewitt, Sarah Joyce Cooper, and Hayan Kim.

Performance Dates: Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, 2020

The MDLO Young Artist Institution Spring Gala will feature performances of “L’Heure Espagnole” and “Gianni Schicchi” with Louis Salemno conducting.

Performance Date: April 1, 2020

The season ends with “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Ruggero Raimondi directs a production with Hunter Enoch in the title role. Other cast members include Helen Keanrs, Christian Bowers, Aleks Romano, Steven Condy, Luretta Bybee, Joseph Michael Brent, and Michael Pitocchi, among others.
