Royal Opera House to Return to Linbury Theatre with ‘Wolf Witch Giant Fairy’

By Logan Martell

On Dec. 17, 2021, the Royal Opera will present “Wolf Witch Giant Fairy.”

The production represents the company’s first fully-staged work at the Linbury Theatre since the pandemic.

Presented in collaboration with theatre company Little Bulb, this new work will take audiences to enchanted forests inspired by Scandinavian roundwood buildings, designed by Samuel Wyer. The cast includes Alexander Scott, Clare Beresford, Dominic Conway, Eugenie Pastor, Jon Whitten, Miriam Gould, Shamira Turner, Tom Penn, Peter Brathwaite, and Claire Wild.

In anticipation of the show, ROH’s Learning and Participation team will offer a “Fairytales and Magic” Family Sunday, featuring creative activities, recitals, barre classes, stage fight workshops, storytelling, and more.

“We set out to explore the possibilities of combining extraordinary storytellers, theatre makers and opera singers to see what we could learn from each other,” said ROH Creative Producer Kate Wyatt in a press statement. “We’ve had the most joyful two years developing this show and can’t wait for audiences to join us. This is a production for everyone, and the whole run will be made up of relaxed performances, designed to immerse audiences in Little Bulb’s magical world of fairy tales. We invite you to get lost in our enchanted woodland, meeting both well-known characters and new faces along the way.”
