Royal Opera House Announces New Cast Change for ‘Elektra’
By Francisco SalazarNina Stemme has withdrawn from the Jan. 18, 2024 performance of “Elektra” at the Royal Opera House.
The company noted that Stemme is ill and as a result, the role of Elektra will be performed by Ausrine Stundyte, who made her highly anticipated Covent Garden debut as Elektra on Jan. 15, 2024.
Stundyte is a well-known interpreter of Elektra as she has performed it at the Salzburg Festival, Staatsoper Hamburg, Antwerp, and recently at the Wiener Staatsoper. She is set to return to The Royal Opera to perform the title role in Tosca next month.
The soprano is set to join a cast that includes Sara Jakubiak, Karita Mattila, Łukasz Goliński, and Charles Workman. Sir Antonio Pappano conducts the production by Christof Loy.
