Royal Opera House 2018-19 Live Cinema Preview: Plácido Domingo, Ermonela Jaho Star In ‘La Traviata’

On Jan. 30, 2019, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden will showcase its Richard Eyre’s famed “La Traviata” production in cinemas around the world.

The production, known for its elegant style and visual elements, will feature Ermonela Jaho in the title role with Plácido Domingo and Charles Castronov as Germont and Alfredo, respectively. Antonello Manacorda conducts the production.

The current run opened on Jan. 14, 2019 with both Jaho and Castronovo in leading roles. Domingo’s first performance of the work was on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019. After this performance, there will be one more showcase at the Royal Opera House starring Benjamin Bernheim and Angel Blue as Alfredo and Violetta, respectively.

After “La Traviata,” the company will showcase “La Forza del Destino,” and “Faust” in cinemas. The former stars Anna Netrebko and Jonas Kaufmann, while the latter is set to feature Michael Fabiano and Diana Damrau.
