
Royal Ballet and Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘Il Trovatore’
By Francisco SalazarThe Royal Ballet and Opera has announced a cast change for its March 13 performance of “Il Trovatore.”
The company said that Marina Rebeka will sing the role of Leonora replacing Rachel Willis- Sørensen, who is ill.
Rebeka took to her social media and said, “Dear friends, I am so happy to be back in London. Tomorrow I will be Leonora in the wonderful ‘Trovatore’s’ production of Royal Ballet and Opera that I happened to perform just few years ago! I wish my amazing colleague Rachel Willis- Sørensen to get well soon See you at Covent Garden! Hugs. Marina.”
Rebeka recently performed the role at the Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, and the Zurich Opera House. She is well known for her Verdi, Puccini, Bellini, and Donizetti roles and has performed all over the world. She performs at the Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, and Paris Opera.
She joins a cast that includes Michael Fabiano, Aleksei Isaev, Agnieszka Rehlis, and Riccardo Fassi. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the production by Adele Thomas.
