
Rosalind Plowright OBE to Become First Patron of Salisbury Chamber Chorus
By David SalazarThe Salisbury Chamber Chorus has announced that renowned opera singer Rosalind Plowright OBE has become its first Patron.
Plowright, a resident of Salisbury, will make her debut public engagement with the Chorus in a masterclass featuring its members on Saturday, 18 October at The Medieval Hall, Salisbury.
“We are delighted to have Rosalind as our Patron. Her extraordinary artistry and stature bring invaluable support and inspiration to our singers,” Simon McEnery, Artistic Director of Salisbury Chamber Chorus, said per an official press release.
Plowright, whose career spans nearly 50 years, has performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, English National Opera, Vienna State Opera, La Monnaie / De Munt, Opéra National de Paris, Hamburg State Opera, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro La Fenice, and Sydney Opera House, among many others. Most recently, in June 2025, she appeared in a new production of “Cavalleria Rusticana” at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
Plowright was awarded the OBE in 2007 for her services to music.
