Rosa Feola Takes Over Last Performances of ‘La Traviata’ at Teatro San Carlo

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro San Carlo has announced a new cast change for its production of “La Traviata.”

The company said, “We inform our audience that, due to a sudden illness of Lisette Oropesa, the role of Violetta Valéry, for ‘La Traviata,’ on stage on July 24, 27 and 30, 2024 will be performed by Rosa Feola.”

For her part, Oropesa took to social media and said, “Before I am able to return to my engagements, I would like to be fully recovered, and I’m still not at 100%. My voice is majorly improved from last week, but I’ve seen several doctors who all advise me to take a few more days of rest and address some negative signs of acid reflux. As I navigate this, I am asking for your patience and understanding. This means I will not be singing the last 3 performances of ‘La Traviata’ at the Teatro San Carlo this month. I am very grateful to my wonderful colleague Rosa Feola for stepping in on short notice to delight the public! I am so looking forward to being with you all in Cap Rocat on August 4th!

These are the latest changes following Oropesa’s July 14, 17, and 20 cancelations. For the first three performances, Marina Rebeka took over the lead role.

Feola will now join a cast that includes Kang Wang and Luca Salsi. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the production by Lorenzo Amato.

Feola has performed the role of Violetta in Venice, and Savona.
