Romain Gilbert Receives Important French Prize

Romain Gilbert has been honored with the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

The opera director took to social media to announce the news and said, “What an immense honor to have been named a Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters! It’s an indescribable feeling. Thank you to the benevolent spirits who will recognize themselves!”

The director is currently directing a new production of “La Gioconda,” which first premiered at the Teatro San Carlo in 2024. He has directed at the Bordeaux Opera, Royal Opera of Versailles, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, and Philharmonie of Luxemburg. Among his most recognized productions are “Carmen” and “Roméo et Juliette.”
