The Metropolitan Opera is set to present a new production of Bellini’s “La Sonnambula.”
The new production is set to open on Oct. 6 and will star soprano Nadine Sierra in the role of Amina alongside Xabier Anduaga as Elvino.
They will be joined by Sydney Mancasola as Lisa and bass Alexander Vinogradov as Rodolfo.
Riccardo Frizza conducts Bellini’s masterwork in Rolando Villazón’s production, in which he reframes the opera’s themes of love and loss while retaining its original Swiss Alpine setting.
“La Sonnambula” has been performed only 80 times at the Met and was last presented during the 2013–14 season in the 2008 Mary Zimmerman production.
The work will be presented in cinemas on Oct. 18, as part of The Met: Live in HD series. It will also be broadcast on Oct. via The Robert K. Johnson Foundation—Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network on April 25, 2026, and performances on Oct. 6 and 14 will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app.
