Roberto Alagna, Marie-Nicole Lemieux & Cecilia Bartoli Lead Les Chorégies d’Orange’s 2021 Festival

Festival Les Chorégies d’Orange has announced its 2021 schedule, featuring a number of vocal and orchestral works.

For the purpose of this article, we will focus on the vocal works only.

Camille Saint-Saëns’ operatic masterpiece “Samson et Dalila” will star Nicolas Cavallier in the role of Le Grand-Prêtre de Dagon, Julien Véronèse as Abimélech, Satrape de Gaza, and Roberto Alagna and Marie-Nicole Lemieux in the title roles. The cast also includes Christophe Berry, Nicolas Courjal, Marc Larcher, and Frédéric Caton.

Yves Abel will conduct the production by Jean-Louis Grinda. The opera is a co-production with L’Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

The Concert in Palais Des Princes will feature soprano Solen Mainguené, mezzo-soprano Marion Lebègue, and tenor Jean Miannay. David Zobel will be at the piano.

Famed mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli will perform a number of vocal works during the event “Viaggio Italiano” with les Musiciens du Prince – Monaco. Gianluca Capuano will conduct.

The event “Nuit Italienne” will showcase the Orchestra and Choir of the Teatro alla Scala. Maestro Riccardo Chailly will conduct. Bruno Casoni is the Choir Master.

Performance date: July 24, 2021

Finally, the event “La Symphonie des jeux vidéo” will spotlight Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille and Choeur de l’Opéra de Marseille.
