Ring Award 2025 Announces Open Call

The international music theatre competition is designed for young artists in the field of direction as well as stage and costume design. Teams are tasked with creating a new production of Claudio Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo.” They will be assessed by a jury of experts consisting of Jossi Wieler (chair), Jan Henric Bogen, Renata Borowska-Juszczyńska, Valérie Chevalier, Marlene Hahn, Stefan Herheim, Marko Hribernik, Ulrich Lenz, Andrea Moses, and others.
This year, along with the “Ring Award,” cash prizes, production commission, and Audience Award, there will also be a Sustainability Award, a Dramaturgy Award, and the Honorary President’s Award.
Applications are open to the public and to all countries. Participants must not be older than 35 years. The deadline for entries is Sept. 16, and semifinal teams will be announced on Oct. 3. The first round of competition is held Jan. 16 -18, and the finals are scheduled for June 28-29.
The Ring Award competition is organized by the Bühnen Graz, Oper Graz, Schauspielhaus Graz, NEXT LIBERTY and art + Event | Theaterservice Graz, and in cooperation with the University of Art and Design Graz .
