Rhymes With Opera to Present 23 One-Minute Operas

Rhymes with Opera has announced that it will be presenting one-minute operas by 23 different composers.

The series is part of the company’s Cyber Season and will feature founding members Robert Maril, Bonnie Lander, and Elisabeth Halliday-Quan.

There will be world premieres by such composers as Andrew Histand, Anna Meadors, Ashley Wang Lyth, Chris Cresswell, Colin Read, Daniel Thomas Davis, Douglas Buchanan, Elizabeth Kennedy Bayer, George Tsz-Kwan Lam, Gilbert Galindo, Jason Reed, Jeremy Parel, Marc Hoffeditz, Mark Lackey, Michael Sperone, Ruby Fulton, Sean McFarland, Sidney Marquez Boquiren, Sunny Knable, Taylor Bradshaw, Thom Lambert, and Travis Sullivan.

The operas will be streaming on Sept. 12, 2020, at 8 p.m. Viewers can check out the works on the company’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitch at no cost.

Rhymes with Opera has performed dozens of new works since its inception in 2007. The company launched its Cyber Season due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic; the Cyber Season has focused on community-building events, an educational workshop for emerging composers, chamber music showcases, artist interviews, and an album release.
